NOC Technician : Job Description & Salary


Network Operations Center (NOC) technicians supervise complex aspects of the network and are responsible for network administration. They solve problems regularly. The job of a NOC technician involves managing networks, servers, and telecommunications equipment in a company.

In particular, a NOC is an IT support technician who manages, monitors resolves and maintains customer networks. NOCs use software to manage the system.



Also known as Network Management Centers, organizations established NOCs to assess problems, solve problems, and communicate with field technicians, and monitor issues close to their proposals.

When a system encounters an impediment, NOC technicians must address the issues by resolving and working correctly. Depending on the level of complexity, companies place them to varying degrees so that technicians can perform relevant tasks on time. NOC operations should be able to provide excellent customer service by addressing issues immediately.

Experts continue to learn and continuously update the internal knowledge base with new solutions to support. They follow the company's traditional guidelines, policies, and procedures.

Technicians should monitor service level agreements (SLA) violations. They update customers, vendors, or third-party providers on the progress of events.

Experts should regularly inspect auxiliary systems, including air conditioning and UPS systems. They use the command line interface (CLI) and TCP / IP protocols to diagnose, diagnose, and evaluate problems.

NOC technicians assist team members and customers by implementing the technology of operations and systems using servers, PCs, telephones, and email.

In addition to the above duties, they also perform the following responsibilities:
Diagnose problems
When the system malfunctions, they identify the problem and fix it. It may require coordination with IT teams and customers.

Graduates in the field of computer science, information technology or any other related subject, otherwise candidates must have at least an associate's degree.

If they have certifications like CompTIA's Network + or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), this will help them move up the ladder.

Applicants may have to go through a biographical data check, and in some cases, you need to obtain a security permit

The average salary of a NOC technician in the United States is $ 46,420 per year. However, the average freelance hourly wage of a NOC the technician is $ 19.37.
